Details: Learn how to expand your four-shaft loom's potential with a little pick-up!
Alison has a passion for the four-shaft loom and over two days she'll introduce you to three techniques: Doubleweave Pick-Up, Mock Satin Damask, and Finnweave.
You'll create samplers of simple light/dark images woven on just one loom—yours. The colour order and treadling sequence makes each part of the project distinct.
This is not a round-robin class.
Alison will contact each student with drafts and warping instructions.
Number of students: Minimum: 8
Maximum: 12

Spinning other Fibres
Date: May 10, 2010
Time: TBA
Instructor: Anne Field
Location: TBA
Cost: $127.00 ($100 deposit)
Contact: ccmpurse@telus.net
Details: Fibres: silk, alpaca and mohair.
I begin with observing and discussing fibre qualities and compare these to the properties we want in the spun yarn.
I then teach different preparation and spinning techniques (worsted through woolen) to make the yarn reflect the look of the original fibre and the end use. You can use several different techniques with each fibre, depending on your required appearance and end use.
You will spin, wash and analyse small sample skeins.
