Scholarships

The Victoria Handweavers' and Spinners' Guild offers scholarships to members so they may attend conferences and workshops that encourage growth and learning in the field of weaving and spinning and related textile craft. Contact us for more information.

Guidelines for scholarship applicants:

bulletThe applicant shall be a member in good standing and may have any level of expertise.
bullet

Applications can be made at any time of the year.

bullet

Scholarships are monies given to members to learn fibre related skills.

bullet

You must fill in the official application form and forward the application to the Chair of the Scholarship Committee.

bullet

We will announce the successful applicant's name and the course taken in the newsletter and at the General Meeting.

bullet

The committee expects that the grant recipient will share their workshop experience with the Guild. The committee and the applicant will decide on the type of service before the committee awards the grant (the type of service is somewhat dependent on the grant amount).
The grant recipient may share the workshop experience by:

bullet

giving a 'show and tell' presentation

bullet

donating a sample book or reference book to the Guild library

bullet

giving a slide show and lecture

bullet

giving an appropriate workshop

bullet

mentoring other Guild members

bullet

Financial need is not a consideration.
